Lyrics

Sit right there and let me spin you a yarn, 'bout a troubled boy and girl.
One said they'd be president , while the other's gonna rule the world.
Through all of the late nights, and fucked up fist fights, they swore to see it through till the end.
But no one ever could have predicted, what was up and coming 'round the bend.

She had had enough.
He finally called her bluff.
Left him standing out in the pouring rain.
But when he got back home, she was all alone.
But beat his ass, high on cocaine.

Now the sheriff found him on the rug, beaten to a pulp.
Said, "Honey, did you do this?"
She said, "I was high, not knowing it wasn't right, but it's the only chance I couldn't miss."
Now the newspaper claimed that she didn't have to stay.
She's the one to blame.
But when everyone heard how it had all gone down,
That sleepy town was never quite the same.

On that sunny day, the whole damn town came,
To the courthouse in the center square.
Some said "Put her away" other's said "Let her stay."
It was her cross to bear.

In her cell in that small county jail.
No one can tell you how.
When she realized, just how to do it right.
Pop the lock, forget the bail.

The cops looked all around, even shut the highway down.
She played them like a fool.
And still now to this day, she's the one that got away.
She's probably tanning by a pool.

Now if you recognize her in your life, please don't say a thing.
It would just be the best, for everyone else,
If you let her be and go live her capital-murder-free life.
